TimeTonic offers five types of users, called roles, which define what each person can do within a workspace. The features actually accessible also depend on your workspace's plan. This article details the roles and their settings. To understand how plans affect the available features, see the dedicated article Understanding License Plans.

The Different User Types
TimeTonic offers five types of users that allow fine-tuning of access and action rights within a workspace:
- Owner
- Admin
- User
- Limited
- Read-only
Changing a User's Permissions
To change a user's type, click on their current role, then select the desired new user type.
Access to Workspace Members
It is possible to restrict access to the list of workspace members for certain users by disabling the Members List option.
Access to Workspace Messaging
Access to internal messaging can be restricted per user by disabling the Messages option.
Access to the Web Application
Workspace access can be limited per user depending on the usage channel:
- Mobile Only: access only via the mobile app
- Web + Mobile: access via both the web interface and the mobile app
- Web Only: access only via the web interface
API Access
API access can be enabled or restricted per user for a given workspace. This option only concerns users whose role allows API access and requires a compatible plan (see the article Understanding License Plans).
Removing a Member from a Workspace
To remove a user from a workspace, click on the trash icon located to the right of their name.
Details of Permissions by User Type
This section complements the screens above by providing a functional description of the rights associated with each user type.
The rights described below apply within the limits of the features available according to the subscribed license plan (Free, Start, Pro, or Business). The Limitations column indicates restrictions related to the role, regardless of the plan.
| User Type | Main Rights | Limitations |
|---|---|---|
| Owner |

| Admin |

A role is not always enough
The table above describes the rights associated with each role. Some mentioned features, such as API access or advanced automations, are only available from a certain plan. For example, an Admin on a Free plan will not be able to use the API even if their role would allow it on a higher plan.
The rights actually accessible to a user result from the intersection between their role (as described in this article) and the workspace plan (what the platform technically allows).
Understanding the Difference Between User and Limited Roles
The distinction between the User and Limited roles is fundamental for securing a workspace.
A Limited user differs from a standard User by the restrictions indicated in the table above: no deletion, no import, no export, no bulk copy-paste.
The Limited role is intended for supervised or external profiles, such as field users, partners, or occasional contributors. The User role corresponds to standard operational use for internal members who handle data daily.
