Set Up Your TimeTonic Email with Gmail (Securely!)
Want to sync your Gmail inbox with TimeTonic to manage your emails directly from your favorite workspace? No problem, here’s a step-by-step guide to get it done.
Why Enable Two-Factor Authentication?
Before diving into the setup, note that for security reasons, Gmail requires Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to be enabled to generate an application password. This protects your account from unauthorized access!
Setup Steps
1. Enable Two-Factor Authentication on Google
- Log in to your google account.
Go to your security settings: Manage your Google account.
2. Generate an Application Password
- Once 2FA is enabled, go back to your Google security settings.
- Still in the "Two-Step Verification" tab.
- At the bottom of the page…
- Find the option « App Passwords ».
- Click on it and identify yourself if required.
- Name your application, for example: « TimeTonic ».
- Click on « Generate » and securely save the generated password (it looks like this:
abcd efgh ijkl mnop).
3. Set Up Your TimeTonic Email
- Open TimeTonic and go to the configuration settings for your email.
- Authentication method: login / password
- Enter your Gmail address.
- When TimeTonic asks for your password, use the application password you generated earlier (and not your usual Gmail password!). [see screenshot]
- Insert your IMAP and SMTP settings:
- IMAP :
imap.gmail.com SMTP :
smtp.gmail.com
- Click on configure email.
- You should see an "OK" message in the error field. If you see "KO," review the procedure.

Error? Don't Panic!
If you encounter an error message, it is likely because two-factor authentication is not properly enabled. Go back to your Gmail security settings and ensure everything is correctly configured.
Your Gmail inbox is now connected to TimeTonic.
You can now receive and send emails directly from your workspace.
💡 The maximum size for attachments sent directly from Gmail is 99 MB.
Beyond this limit, Gmail automatically creates a Google Drive link to allow file sharing.
