The Automatic Document column allows you to automatically generate pre-filled Excel or Word files with table data. Create a template for an invoice, a quote, or any other administrative document using TimeTonic.

Once set up, the column will display a URL allowing you to download the pre-filled document.

⚙️ Configuring the Automatic Document Column

1️⃣ Creating an Automatic Document Column

➡️ Adding a new column

• Click "Add a column" and select Automatic Document.

 

1️⃣ Selecting the template

• You can import a Word or Excel template as a pre-filled file.
• Alternatively, you can store a template in a File Attachment column for dynamic use.

 

2️⃣ Define a backup column (optional)

• If you want the generated file to be automatically stored in your table, choose a column of type Attachment.

3️⃣ Linking to a specific view

 

• You can associate your document with a specific view in the database.

4️⃣ Customizing the generated file name

• Dynamic Name: Use a column containing an invoice number or concatenated text.
• Fixed Name: All generated files will have the same name.

5️⃣ Exporting as PDF

• Check the "Export as PDF" option to automatically convert the document to PDF.

• Enable the "Transform into button" option for better display in the record view.

• Assign a name to the button (e.g., "Generate PDF").
