The Planner View in TimeTonic allows you to visualize and organize data on a timeline. It offers drag-and-drop features, quick event creation, and right-click editing. Events can be customized with filters and colors. It is an interactive and flexible tool for managing dates and projects.
Here are the steps to use this feature:
Access the Planner View:
- Click on the view option in the table’s horizontal bar to switch to the timeline display.
- In the view modes form that opens: select the Planner View.
Configuration options:
When you open Configure Timeline, you get access to all settings allowing you to customize the display, structure, and readability of your events on the timeline.
- Title
Select the field that will serve as the displayed name for each event.
Examples: Project name, Task, Intervention, Training…
- Start date
Choose the field of type Date or Date-Time that marks the start of the event.
- End date
Select the field indicating the end of the event.
→ Required if you want to display durations.
- Group by
Allows you to stack or visually group your events according to a linked column or a category.
Examples:
- Manager
- Client
- Intervention category
- Site / Team
- Group by N+1
Adds a second grouping level to organize records hierarchically.
Example:
- Group by Manager → then by Client
- Group by N+2
Enables a third grouping level.
Useful for complex timelines.
Example:
- Manager
- Department
- Mission type
- Color
Allows you to apply dynamic colors based on a Selection or Multi-selection field.
→ Ideal to differentiate: priority, status, category, team…
- Row height
Adjust the visual density of the timeline:
- Low height → more compact
- High height → more visible events / better readability
- Fit all events
Enables an automatic display that adjusts line height to show all events in the row without cropping.

The date picker
It allows you to quickly navigate the timeline: change the year, month, or day.
Display settings control how many events appear per row and the visual density of the view.
A quick-access button also lets you instantly return to today’s date.
Step 1 — Open the date picker
- Click the date field at the top of the timeline.
- The picker opens and displays the year, month, and day.
Step 2 — Change the year
- Use the year dropdown or the arrows.
- Select the year you want to view.
- The timeline updates automatically.
Step 3 — Change the month
- Click the month tab or the navigation arrows.
- Choose a month to display its corresponding events.
Step 4 — Select a specific date
- Click directly on the date in the calendar.
- The timeline instantly moves to the selected period.
Step 5 — Change period display
In the period selection field, use the options:
- Year
- Trimester
- Month
- Bimonthly
- Week
- Office hours
- Quarter day
- Hour
- Half hour
- Quarter hour
Select a granularity adapted to your planning.
Apply filters: use filters to display only relevant events.
Customize the Planner View:
Dynamic uses of the view:
The Planner View is automatically updated based on your table data. Modify your fields in real time and observe the changes directly on the timeline.
→ Drag and drop: easily move your events on the timeline to reposition them on the time range.
→ Adjust the layout: stretch or reduce the event’s time range using the small ↔️ handle that appears when hovering over the right or left side of the item.
→ Create with double-click: double-click on an empty area of the timeline to create a new event. A form will open allowing you to add the required details.
→ Open record on single click: click once on an item to open its record.
→ Right-click for more actions: right-click an event to delete or duplicate the row.
